                                       January 2014
The Sandbook Studio created sound designs for the play "The Portrait", written by Sarah Levine Simon and directed by Roger Hendricks Simon at Theatre 54, 244 West 54th St. in NYC.  The sounds are all clips recorded by The Sandbook Studio of excerpts from Beethoven's Waldstein Sonata played by Gregg Michalak.  The play runs January 15-26, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

                                        Fall, 2013
• Sandbook owner Eric Somers brought out a new photo book featuring 40 photos of just 5 small stones one can hold in one's hand.  The book is called "Stonescapes" and is available at  For an autographed copy email  In association with the book release, Dutchess Community College held an exhibit of the photos from the book (as part of a dual photo show also featuring work by Lori Adams of Lori Adams Photo). • The Sandbook studio also presented evening workshops in film sound design (including an introduction to Foley art) at the Juilliard School in NYC and at Gallery MC in NYC.  A longer workshop is planned at Gallery MC in February in conjunction with ParAcademy.  Watch here for an announcement.

• The Sandbook Studio recorded two concerts in Fall, 2013, of the famed Choir of St. Luke in the Fields (NYC).  The recordings are maintained as archival records of the concerts and some are released by The Church of St. Luke in the Fields as part of their "Live in Concert" CD series.

July 2013
• Eric Somers, Sandbook Studio owner and tonmeister, took part is a workshop, July 7,  on experimental radio drama and sound art presented at Harvestworks (NYC) by the noted German sound artist and radio theatre director, Hans Schόttler.

June 2013

• Sandbook tonmeister wins national award for radio play written by one of his students from Dutchess Community College. read news release (.pdf format)

• The Sandbook Studio has moved into a larger studio area in the same building as our previous location (see new suite number below).  We now have a voiceover booth capable of holding 4-6 voice actors.  Contact us for a session.  Voice art workshops to start in Fall 2013.
